- Don't install anything you won't use. It may look good but it's a waste of valuable storage space.
- Always keep up to date with Microsoft and driver updates for all of your devices, like graphics card, sound card, printer and scanner.
- Give your system a regular MOT. Run disc cleanup and disc defragmenter at least once a month.
- Keep an eye on online technical forums and computer magazines for tips, and don't be afraid to experiment. You'll be amazed at the power and potential of your computer.
- Don't be afraid to try something new, or click on something you're not sure about. As long as you back up your data regularly, the worst you could do is delete a file.
- Use the power options function (use Windows "Search" or Apple's "Spotlight" if unsure of where this is) to put your monitor to sleep to save power.
- Create desktop shortcuts to those applications you use most.
- Rather than leaving your system in standby, periodically shut your computer down - we all need a breather once in a while!
